Biography
Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish was born 4 March 1951 in Glasgow. Kenny signed for Celtic 1967 before being loaned out to Cumbernauld United where he proved to be a prolific goal scorer. He made his senior debut for Celtic in 1968 and became a regular the following year. Over the next decade he won a raft of silverware including four league titles, four Scottish Cups and four League Cups. Dalglish joined Liverpool in 1977 for a then record fee between two British Clubs. His first season was a huge success with Kenny scoring the winning goal in the European Cup final against Club Brugge. He went on to win five English league titles, four League Cups and more European Cups and became the only player to score more than 100 goals in both England and Scotland. Kenny made his Scotland debut in 1971 at Pittodrie in a Euro 1972 qualifier against Belgium and scored his first international goal the next year in a 2-0 victory over Denmark. Over the course of his career, he represented Scotland at three World Cups in between 1974 and 1982 and gained an all-time record 102 caps. He scored 30 goals for Scotland and remains joint top scorer alongside Denis Law.
