UEFA Women’s EURO Play-off First Round Scotland v Hungary Easter Road Stadium, Edinburgh Tuesday, 29 October 2024 (7.35pm kick-off)
Scotland Women’s National Team Head Coach Pedro Martinez Losa has named his squad for the upcoming double-header against Hungary in the UEFA Women’s EURO Play-off First Round.
Following an unbeaten qualification campaign – securing promotion to UEFA Nations League A in the process – the Scots are four games away from a place in Switzerland for next summer’s finals.
They have been boosted by the timely return from injury of two important players.
Real Madrid star Caroline Weir ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the 1-1 draw with Belgium at Hampden Park back in September 2023.
After throwing herself into a gruelling rehabilitation process, Caroline recently made her comeback at club level.
Rising star Emma Watson suffered the same injury a week earlier, and the Scottish FA JD Performance School graduate is back up and running at Manchester United.
There’s also a first senior call-up for Shannon McGregor, who has been in fine form for Celtic since a summer switch from Hibs, and she joins the returning Emma Mukandi, Kathy Hill, Lauren Davidson and Rachel McLauchlan in the squad.
Captain Rachel Corsie is a notable absentee, with the long-serving centre-back having had surgery on a knee injury.
