GLASGOW CITY v HIBERNIAN - 2015 MEETINGS

4 Oct | Hibernian 0-2 Glasgow City 16 Aug | Glasgow City 3-3 Hibernian 3 June | Glasgow City 2-1 Hibernian (aet) 17 May| Glasgow City 3-3 Hibernian

Hibernian will be out to stop history repeating itself on Sunday. Glasgow City have lifted the last four Scottish Cup trophies and beat Hibernian in the 2011 and 2013 finals. But with an exciting young squad and the backing of an Edinburgh crowd, Siobhan is confident that her teammates have the arsenal to put a dent in City’s treble ambitions: “There’s no one in our team who isn’t confident on the ball and playing it out wide or through the middle. Each and everyone of us knows the abilities of each other, so we need to use that to capitalise on any weaknesses Glasgow City might have. “This is probably one of the most important games of the season. There’s a lot of emphasis on individual performances but also on the team’s performance. The players around you bring out the best in you. Our backbone and midfield will work together as a team to bring individuals into the game.” The positivity surrounding Hibernian’s season has extended to the international stage too. Five Hibs players featured in the last Scotland squad, with Siobhan, Kirsty Smith, Chloe Arthur, Lizzie Arnot and Heather Richards all called up for the recent Euro Qualifiers against Belarus and FYR Macedonia. Siobhan has been impressed with Scotland’s start to the qualification campaign and is keen to play her part in any future success: “They’ve scored a lot of goals, which is good as sometimes these things do come down to goal difference. The team have looked really confident in what they’ve been doing. “The near misses of the past are in the back of the squad’s mind and that’ll help push us on. We will always aim to win, whoever we are playing.”
