What is Next Gen?

NextGen is the Scottish FA’s Girls’ Performance Programme that defines, operates, and partially funds the Talent Development Environment system in Scotland, alongside a games programme. It governs the development of players from the age of 11 to 17. This Performance Programme has been designed to align with our Performance Strategy: Accelerate our Game 2021-2025. The overall aims of the programme are to continue to enhance our talent development environments, providing specific performance programmes to support our clubs to deliver high performance environments and cultures focused on the development of our domestic talent.

Clubs are assessed against set criteria, which consider performance in areas such as; coaching qualifications, facilities, talent identification, long term athlete development programmes, pathways and sports science and medicine provisions.
