
The defender established herself in the Thistle senior side aged just fifteen and was part of the team to gain promotion to the SWPL 2 for the first time in 2018.
Lawton signed for Manchester City in 2019, gaining experience with the club’s development side before returning to Scotland with Motherwell in July 2022.
She made 23 appearances for Motherwell during the 2022/23 SWPL season before returning to Partick Thistle, who were now also playing in Scotland’s top division.
The defender played an instrumental role during the 2023/24 season as Thistle finished in the top six of the SWPL for the first time and reached the Sky Sports Cup final.
Lawton’s performances throughout the season saw her named Partick Thistle’s Player of the Year and included in the PFA Scotland SWPL Team of the Year.
The right-back signed for SWPL champions Celtic in September 2024 and was named as the PFA Scotland SWPL Player of the Year during her debut season with the club.
At international level, Lawton made her Scotland debut during a UEFA Nations League match against Austria in February 2025.
Just four days later, the defender scored her first Scotland goal as she opened the scoring against The Netherlands at Hampden Park.
She earned her tenth cap in March 2026 during a World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg before scoring her second international goal against the same opponents a few days later.
