
She made her debut for Glasgow City against Inverness City that year, quickly establishing herself as the number one goalkeeper in the squad.
Gibson spent five seasons with the club, winning fourteen trophies including four domestic trebles, before signing for Mallbackens IF in Sweden in December 2015.
She returned to Glasgow City in 2016 after one season in Sweden, re-establishing herself as a pivotal part of the squad and making history by saving three penalties in a shootout against Brondby as City became the first Scottish side to make it to the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals during the 2019/20 season.
The goalkeeper was part of the City side that won five consecutive league titles between 2017 and 2021, also winning the Scottish Cup in 2019 and the Sky Sports Cup in 2026.
At international level, Gibson received her first international call up in November 2015 and was included as part of the squad that travelled to EURO 2017 in The Netherlands.
Her first cap followed in September 2017, starting the match and playing 61 minutes during a 3-0 friendly victory over Hungary.
The goalkeeper soon established herself as her country’s number one, playing an important role as Scotland qualified for the 2019 World Cup where she started all three group stage matches.
Gibson reached the milestone of 65 caps for her country in October 2025 during a friendly against Switzerland.
