
MacIver moved to the USA on a scholarship in 2016, playing college football for the Clemson University Tigers before rejoining Everton in January 2020.
The goalkeeper made her professional debut later that month and was named as the player of the match for her performance in the 2020 FA Cup final despite a narrow extra time loss.
A move to Manchester City followed in July 2022 but she found her playing time limited before sustaining a serious knee injury on international duty in 2024.
After recovering from the injury, she moved back to the USA to sign for Washington Spirit in January 2025, making her debut after thirteen months out injured in May of that year.
At international level, MacIver represented England as a youth and made one senior appearance before switching allegiance to Scotland in October 2023.
She made her debut later that month during a UEFA Nations League match against The Netherlands at Hampden and became a regular starter for her country until sustaining a serious knee injury against Serbia in April 2024.
MacIver made her return to the Scotland squad after a sixteen-month absence in November 2025 and earned her tenth international cap just a few months later during a World Cup qualifying match against Belgium.
