Former Scotland internationalist Pauline MacDonald has been appointed as Girls/Women’s Youth Performance Pathway Manager and Under-17s head coach.

Capped 66 times for her country, MacDonald becomes the third full-time female coach working for the women’s international teams along with Shelley Kerr and Pauline Hamill.
 
She will work within the Performance Department where part of her role will involve the coordination and management of the Regional Performance Academies and newly created Regional Performance Hubs.

Pauline has previously been assistant coach and head coach for a number of national women’s youth teams over the last 10 years.

Her first matches in charge will be the UEFA qualifiers in October where Scotland will travel to Latvia to take on the hosts, Slovakia and England.

She said: “This is a dream job for me and the timing is now right in terms of my development as a coach.

“The role not only allows me to coach but also to nurture the talent coming through. We want to develop good players as well as good people.

“I am aiming to work effectively with the performance team and continue to build on the legacy from Euro 2017 to drive the women’s game forward.

“I want us all to work as a team to motivate, inspire and support not only the young players but also get the buy in from the club coaches so we’re all moving in the same direction.

“Working alongside Shelley Kerr and Pauline Hamill will be brilliant as we all have similar mindsets which gives us great strength going forward.

“This is a really exciting time for girls and women’s football.”
