Falkirk and Inverness Caledonian Thistle met at the National Stadium for first the Semi-Final of the Scottish Cup weekend. The team from the Highlands won 3-0 thanks to a brace from Billy McKay and a goal from Daniel MacKay.

As It Happened
Inverness Caledonian Thistle took the lead of the game with only six minutes on the clock when referee Nick Walsh went to the VAR monitor and awarded a penalty for a hand ball against Leon McCann. Bill McKay stepped up to take it; he made no mistake and fired it into the back of the net.

Falkirk came close to equalising five minutes later when Mark Ridgers failed to clear the ball and it was picked up by Callumn Morrison – his effort towards the empty net was rebounded off the left hand post.
In the 33rd minute, Caley Thistle grabbed their second goal of the game. Jay Henderson crossed a great ball into the box which was finished off by a superb header from Daniel MacKay from around 10 yards out.

Billy McKay scored his second of the game in the 56th minute when he got on the end of a terrific ball into the box and put a first time finish into the net from a tight angle.

Nathan Shaw came close to scoring in the 68th minute but his effort was denied by the bottom of the left hand post before rolling across the six yard box.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle will find out tomorrow who they will be facing in the 2023 Men's Scottish Cup Final, when Rangers and Celtic play each other at Hampden with kick off at 1:30pm. The game can be watched on Viaplay.
