As It Happened
Scotland started the game strong with Kirsty Hanson at the centre of the action in the opening 15 minutes. In the fourth minute, Hanson stole the ball before playing it into the box; with her delivery rattling the crossbar. Minutes later, she played another cross into the box. This time the ball was met by Martha Thomas in the middle who looped a header narrowly over the bar.
Scotland took the lead of the game in the 16th minute when a wonderful ball into the box from Martha Thomas was met by Claire Emslie who had made a perfectly timed run to direct the ball into the net at the back post area.
In the 28th minute, Lee Gibson was called into action to make a great save to deny Talia Sommer who was one on one with the Scotland shot stopper before Sophie Howard made a goal-saving block.
Scotland capitalised on this quickly and took play down the other end of the pitch to double their lead. Martha Thomas’s attempt was denied by the post however Kirsty Hanson was there to latch on to the loose ball and poke it home.
10 minutes before half time and Scotland got their third. Martha Thomas slipped the ball into the path of Kirsty Hanson within the box who squared it to Claire Emslie and Emslie tapped it in at the back post area.
Scotland were awarded a penalty in the 63rd minute when Chelsea Cornet was brough down within the box. Martha Thomas stepped up to take the penalty and confidently fired it into the bottom left corner to get her well-earned goal.
Israel got a goal back in the 84th minute thanks to a fantastic finish from Talia Sommer into the top left corner.
