FIFA World Cup Qualifying
Sunday, 12 October 2025 (5pm kick-off)
Hampden Park, Glasgow
After a dramatic night at Hampden Park just two days ago, Scotland are back at the National Stadium on Sunday evening as Steve Clarke's side look to round off a perfect week.
Scotland went a goal down after an hour against a slick Greek side but we managed to turn the tide, with goals from Ryan Christie, Lewis Ferguson and Lyndon Dykes eventually securing a crucial 3-1 victory.
The win means Scotland remain in second place in Group C, only behind leaders Denmark on goal difference.
The Danes put six past Belarus on Thursday evening and Scotland will be hoping to secure win against the same opponents on Sunday to continue our strong start to World Cup qualifying - with Thursday's three points adding to the four secured in September.
With Denmark facing third-placed Greece in Copenhagen on Sunday, it could be a pivotal evening in determining the final places in Group C.
Scotland will be, once again, backed by a vociferous Tartan Army, with Hampden Park a near sell-out, though a very limited amount of tickets remain available to buy here.
Pre-match thoughts
Scotland striker Lyndon Dykes:
“We have to give credit to Greece on Thursday. They played well and they’ve got great players. We didn’t play amazing but we had each other’s back.
“The crowd was behind us and we needed them and we got the result at the end. In these massive games we need the points.
“It’ll be another massive game on Sunday and if we win it’ll be another great camp.”
“We know what we need to do but we can’t underestimate Belarus. They’re a good side but we’ve played them before so we know what we can do against them.
“Now we’re at home with the fans behind us, in our stadium and our place.
“I’ve got full confidence in this team. We’re doing really well and with the fans behind us, we know what to do and this camp could be absolutely massive for us if we get six points.”
Team News
Aaron Hickey was forced to be withdrawn on Thursday evening and the full-back has left the camp and returned to Brentford.
Lewis Ferguson and Ryan Christie will both sit out Sunday's match through suspension after picking up yellow cards against the Greeks.
To combat the three absentees, Clarke has called up Connor Barron, who made his Scotland debut in June, and Josh Mulligan, who wins his first call-up for the senior national team.
Previous Meetings
As with previous opponents Greece there have only been five previous meetings between Scotland and Belarus.
The first two matches were both positive results for the Scots, with a 1-0 win in Minsk in June 1997 secured through a Gary McAllister penalty and a 4-1 victory a few months later at Pittodrie.
Kevin Gallagher and David Hopkin both grabbed braces that night but Scotland would go goalless across the two matches during the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign, drawing 0-0 in Belarus and losing 1-0 in Glasgow.
It was a more straightforward affair last month in Hungary, as Scotland ran out comfortable 2-0 winners with a goal from Che Adams and a Zakhar Volkov own goal, in a match played behind closed doors.
Tickets
Tickets for the match have been selling out fast since Thursday's dramatic victory over Greece but limited tickets are still available and these can be purchased here.
