Some of Scottish women’s football’s most significant trailblazers were recently honoured in a special ceremony at Hampden Park.

Players who represented Scotland between 1972 – 1982 have been awarded with retrospective caps and recognised for their contribution to the women’s game.

Former players were invited to the national stadium as guests of Scottish FA president Mike Mulraney ahead of the UEFA Women’s Nations League match against England.

It follows the achievements of the famed Ravenscraig Pioneers being celebrated on the 50th anniversary of the first ever Scotland women’s international match in November 1972, and that team were also invited to attend the closing game of Scotland’s UWNL campaign.
