The Scottish Gas Men's Scottish Cup is back this weekend with eight Fifth Round ties taking place as clubs look to book their place in the Quarter-Finals.

The action gets underway on Friday night, live on BBC Scotland, as Ayr United take on Hibernian at Somerset Park. Ayr currently sit top of the Championship and Friday's match sees manager Scott Brown and assistant Steven Whittaker go up against their former club in Hibs.

The two sides last met in the Scottish Cup at this stage 13 years ago, with Hibs winning 2-0 at Somerset Park on that occasion.

Three matches kick off on Saturday afternoon, including Livingston's match against Cove Rangers. Cove may be the lowest ranked team left in the Scottish Cup, but Paul Hartley's side have won five of their last six matches in all competitions and they are aiming to reach the Quarter-Finals for the first time ever.

Livi are also in good form though, having bounced back from three consecutive defeats over the festive period to win five in a row, including their last-gasp extra-time victory over Ross County in Dingwall in the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup.

Dundee came through a dramatic derby with Dundee United in the last round and they are also in action on Saturday afternoon against Airdrieonians. Rhys McCabe's side are enduring a difficult season in the Championship, although they have recently enjoyed an upturn in results, beating Dumbarton 5-1 in the Scottish Cup before winning back to back matches in the league. They are looking to get to the Quarter-Finals for the first time since they reformed in 2002.

The other Saturday 3pm match sees another top flight side at home to a team from the Championship as St Johnstone welcome Hamilton Academical to McDiarmid Park. Like Airdrie, the Perth Saints have also enjoyed a difficult league campaign but back to back wins over Motherwell appear to have kickstarted their season and they now look for their fourth straight win this weekend.

The 2021 Scottish Cup winners last played Hamilton in this competition in 2019 when they won 2-0 with early goals from Jason Kerr and Tony Watt. Accies have lost four league games on the bounce as they struggle in the Championship but they did beat Musselburgh in the last round and they will be looking for some more respite from the Scottish Cup.

The second TV match takes place on Saturday evening as Celtic entertain Raith Rovers live on Premier Sports. Holders Celtic are unbeaten in their last 16 meetings with the Kirkcaldy side, though their last defeat was a dramatic penalties defeat in the 1994/1995 League Cup Final. The two sides also met at Celtic Park in the Fifth Round of the Scottish Cup three years ago, with Celtic winning 4-0 after goals from Liam Scaales, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Daizen Maeda and Nir Bitton.

Aberdeen host Dunfermline Athletic in Sunday's early kick off, with both sets of supporters ready to pay tribute to former manager Jimmy Calderwood who sadly passed away last month after a battle with dementia. It will be the first meeting between the two sides since 2012, when Aberdeen won 1-0 at East End Park in the League Cup.

After an imperious start to the season, Aberdeen's form has fallen off a cliff, with the Dons winning only one of their past 15 games. That victory came in the last round of the Scottish Cup away to Elgin City.

Dunfermline's recent form has been mixed, with the Fifers winning two and losing two of new boss Michael Tidser's first four games in charge. The Pars are looking to secure their place in the hat for the Quarter-Finals for the first time since 2009.

Premier Sports' other Sunday match is Rangers' clash with Queen's Park. It's the first Scottish Cup meeting of the two sides since 1983, when Rangers won 2-1 at Hampden in the Quarter-Final. Rangers have lost just once in their last 11 games, while the Spiders have stumbled recently in the league - although they did book their place in the Challenge Cup Final with a 6-2 extra-time victory over East Kilbride.

The final match of the weekend takes place on Monday night as Hearts travel to Paisley to face St Mirren. After a difficult start to the season, Hearts have improved under new manager Neil Critchley, winning five out of six in all competitions since the turn of the year, including a 4-1 win over Brechin City in the last round of the cup.

St Mirren's form has been up and down and Steven Robinson will be hoping the Buddies can rediscover their strong home form. St Mirren have lost their last three games in Paisley since beating Rangers 2-1 on Boxing Day.

Hearts have won each of their last three Scottish Cup ties against St Mirren, although the Saints’ last win came in the 1986/87 Semi-Final on their way to winning the trophy.
