The Scottish Gas Men’s Scottish Cup action heats up again this weekend as the First Round gets under way.
The drama begins cooking at 2.30pm on Saturday with Culter and Penicuik Athletic hosting Deveronvale and Pollok respectively.
Culter will be intent on keeping their first Scottish Cup appearance since 2014 going after beating Blackburn United in the 2nd Preliminary Round while Deveronvale are aiming to win a Scottish Cup tie for the first time in five seasons.
Pollok have not played East of Scotland league opposition once before in their history, a 2-1 defeat to Spartans in 2008. They will be aiming to keep their fine form in the competition going, having made it to the Third Round of the competition last season. Penicuik will be hoping that home advantage works for them again, having defeated Rutherglen Glencairn 4-2 in the last round.
📍 30 ties.

Last season’s giant killing heroes Darvel enter into unchartered territory when they travel to Bo’ness United in one of Saturday’s 3pm kick-offs, the two sides never having played each other in the Scottish Cup before.
Darvel famously became the only side in Scottish Cup history to defeat a team five divisions up the pecking order when they toppled top-flight Aberdeen on their historic run to the Fifth Round. They have never faced Bo’ness in the Scottish Cup before, but won their only meeting against Lowland League opposition in the competition last season, defeating Dalbeattie Star 7-1 in the Second Round.
The action continues on Sunday at Broomhill, as they welcome fellow Lowland League side Cumbernauld Colts for what will be the fourth meeting between the pair in 2023. Cumbernauld hold the advantage in previous meetings between the sides this year, winning all three of the ties, including the most recent fixture, a 2-1 victory earlier this month.
The action concludes on Monday evening, with the University of Stirling hosting Albion Rovers in a match that will be aired live on BBC Scotland, kick-off 19.05. The hosts will be hoping that history repeats itself, having defeated Albion Rovers 1-0 in the Third Round of the competition last season.
Second Round Draw
The draw for the Scottish Gas Men's Scottish Cup Second Round will take place on Sunday evening at 5pm on the Scottish Cup YouTube channel.
In this, the competition’s 150th anniversary year, we look back at some of the fabled stories that are part of Scottish Cup folklore.
The Second Round draw will be conducted by Paul Sheerin, a member of the famous Inverness Caledonian Thistle side that produced one of the all-time Scottish Cup upsets as they defeated Celtic 3-1 in Glasgow in February, 2000 – inspiring one of the most famous headlines in Scottish football history in the process.
One of the goal scorers on that famous day, Sheerin will be joined by host Gordon Duncan to conduct the draw.
The former Inverness star will see his old club’s city play host to the first stop for the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup Trophy Tour this season.
The football world’s oldest trophy will be on show at a special ‘Evening with the Cup’ event taking place in Eden Court, Inverness on Friday, 22 September.
