Serbia v Scotland
UEFA Women’s European Qualifiers
Friday, 5 April, kick off 5pm (UK)
Dubocica Stadium, Leskovac

The Scotland Women's National Team return to competitive action for the first time this year as the UEFA Women's European Qualifiers get underway. The road to Switzerland starts on Friday night as Pedro Martinez Losa's side begin their qualification campaign away to Serbia.

Following last year's UEFA Nations League, Scotland travelled to Spain in February where they narrowly missed out on the Pinatar Cup with Finland the eventual winners. The Finnish secured the victory on penalties in the final of the friendly tournament.

Scotland are now set to face Serbia, Israel and Slovakia as they bid to return to their first major tournament since 2019.

Serbia go into Friday night’s game with one win in their last five outings – a 2-nil victory over Greece in December. They most recently lost to Iceland in the UEFA Nations League promotion matches in February.

Team news

Christy Grimshaw and Hayley Lauder both drop out through injury, Christie Harrison-Murray and Brogan Hay return to the group along with Kirsty Smith and Sarah Ewens. Martha Thomas and Kirsty Hanson are also side-lined for this camp.

Pre-match thoughts

Speaking ahead of the game, Pedro Martinez Losa: "Serbia is a very difficult opponent. We expect a hostile environment. We are preparing for that.

"We have improved a lot. We want to be more clinical in the final third. Now is the moment for competition.

"We want to get the results so we want to use the experience and the best situation of every single player to make sure we can provide the best performance, the best situation for the players to come in."

Previous meeting

The two sides have never met in competitive action – the last time out was a friendly in 2013. Substitute Lana Clelland grabbed the equaliser in the 90th minute to secure a 1-1 draw. Rachel Corsie and Jane Ross also featured in that match in Stara Pazova.
