
After scoring 21 goals in 40 appearances for the Edinburgh side, Weir made the move south of the border to join Arsenal in July 2013.
The midfielder won her first major trophy in 2014 as Arsenal lifted the FA Cup before a move to Bristol Academy in the summer of 2015.
Weir scored three goals in eight matches for Bristol before moving to Liverpool in January 2016.
She was voted Liverpool’s Player of the Year during her debut season with the club and was a regular starter for the side during a two-and-a-half-year spell on Merseyside before a move to Manchester City in June 2018.
Weir spent four years with City, winning the FA Cup twice and the League Cup twice as well as being nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award in 2020 and 2021.
The midfielder became the first Scottish female to compete in the top flight of Spanish football when she signed for Real Madrid in July 2022.
She was voted as Real’s Player of the Season in both the 2022/23 and 2024/25 seasons before becoming the first Scottish female to be nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award in August 2025.
Weir scored a brace as Real beat Barcelona for the first time in their history in March 2025 and soon became club’s all-time leading scorer with a goal against Real Sociedad the following week.
At international level, Weir made her senior Scotland debut as a substitute against Iceland in June 2013.
The midfielder represented her country at EURO 2017, being named player of the match and scoring the winning goal during a group stage match against Spain to give Scotland their first ever victory at a major tournament.
She experienced tournament football again with her country in 2019, playing all three group stage matches at the FIFA World Cup in France.
Weir was appointed Scotland captain in February 2026 and scored her first international hat-trick the following month during a 5-0 victory over Luxembourg.
