UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifier
Scotland v Greece
Friday, 15 November, kick-off 7pm
Tynecastle Park, Edinburgh
Scotland Under-21s will wrap up 2019 with a European Qualifier against Greece on Friday night.
Scot Gemmill’s side are currently unbeaten after four matches but sit just a point ahead of their opponents who are also yet to suffer defeat.
Tynecastle Park is set to stage the table-topping clash in Group Four, which could play a big role in the two nation’s bids for a qualification.
Pre-match thoughts
Scot Gemmill has had to deal with a number of late changes to his squad, including Ryan Porteous being called-up to Steve Clarke’s senior Scotland squad.
Ross McCrorie, Mikey Johnston, Kyle Magennis and Tom McIntyre dropped out of the squad due to fitness reasons, with Dean Campbell and Ewan Henderson replacing them. Jamie Brandon took Ryan Porteous’ place.
The Under-21s Head Coach believes Friday’s clash with Greece is another opportunity for his players to learn valuable lessons at international level.
He said: “These players are learning as they go but at the same time have crucially formed an identity. They have a work ethic that gives them all the maximum chance to improve further towards their ambition to play for the Scotland National Team.
“The fact we have conceded just one goal in our four games is a foundation the players can build on. For me as manager it also shows me that the players have the ability to gel as a group.
“That can be a challenge at international level compared to club level, where you work together every day, but the players are showing me they are capable of this and are learning with each passing international break.”
