Iceland v Scotland
Wednesday, 15 February 2023 – 2.05pm kick-off (UK Time)
Pinatar Arena
Live on BBC Alba
Scotland will kick-off their Pinatar Cup campaign against Iceland on Wednesday, 15 February, in Murcia, Spain.
Pedro Martinez Losa’s side will face their opponents at the Pinatar Arena in a 2.05pm kick-off UK time – this match will be followed by games against Philippines and Wales respectively.
The 25-strong squad blends experience with a new face in the group. Lisa Evans and Emma Mukandi return to the international fold alongside Jamie-Lee Napier, who will be hoping to win her first Scotland cap over the course of the three-game tournament.
In Iceland, Scotland will face an experienced international side, with West Ham United’s captain, Dagny Brynjarsdottir posing an attacking threat from midfield as the top scorer in the current squad.
It will also be the first meeting between the two nations since 2020, when a single Abbi Grant goal saw Scotland to a 1-0 victory.
Speaking ahead of the match, Martinez Losa said: “It’s great to have the group back together and we are looking forward to competing in the tournament.
“The squad are in good shape with everyone fit and available. Training has been fantastic with a high intensity.
“Iceland will be a very competitive opponent and they have good, experienced players. They’ve produced some strong performances in the last year, but we’ll be looking to start the campaign positively.”
How to Watch
The match will be shown live on BBC Alba, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website, with coverage beginning at 2pm for a 2.05pm kick-off.
