Scotland international and Glasgow City winger Fiona Brown has confirmed her retirement from international and domestic football.
The 30-year-old has amassed more than 60 senior caps for Scotland since her debut in 2015 against Northern Ireland. Fiona also represented Scotland throughout the Under-15, 17 and 19 age groups.
Fiona played her final minutes in dark blue against Slovakia in April 2024, a week before sustaining a fourth ACL injury whilst back on club duty with Glasgow City.
At the age of 14, Fiona embarked on her career at Celtic before two seasons at Glasgow City which was followed by six years in Sweden with a stint at Eskilstuna United prior to five seasons at FC Rosengard before returning to the SWPL with Glasgow City in 2024.
Within 61 international appearances for Scotland, Fiona played her part in the UEFA Women's European Championship in 2017 as well as qualification and group stage participation at the 2019 FIFA World Cup.
Reflecting on her time as a Scotland international, Fiona said: "It's been one of the biggest privileges of my career to represent my country. To do it 61 times is more than I could have imagined.
"I've played alongside some of the world’s best players and been a part of some unbelievable international squads. So many of my international teammates have become friends for life.
"The memories I have from the youth camps to the Euros and World Cup will stay with me forever and I'm incredibly proud of everything we achieved and experienced together.
"I wish Melissa and the squad every success in the future and even though I won't be on the pitch any more, I'll be supporting them in their new chapter.
"Finally, thank you to the fans for your support over the years. You've been there through the highs of major tournament football and lows of injury and I'm so grateful for the encouragement and positivity along the way."
Scottish FA's Head of Girls' and Women's Football, Shirley Martin: "Fiona is a wonderful example of talent, hard work and resilience.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Fiona on a wonderful international career which will be an inspiration for young girls and boys across Scotland for many years to come."
