Biography
Kathleen McGovern started her career at Celtic, progressing through the youth ranks before breaking into the first team in 2018.

McGovern was part of the Celtic side that lifted the League Cup in December 2021 before a move to German side SC Sand in 2022.

The striker returned to Scotland with Hearts ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 11 goals in 19 appearances and helping the Edinburgh side reach the Scottish Cup final by scoring a semi-final goal at Hampden against The Spartans.

She signed for Hibernian ahead of the 2024/25 season, scoring an incredible 31 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions as Hibernian went on to win the league title.

McGovern was named player of the month on three occasions and netted four hat-tricks throughout the season, winning the club’s goal of the season award in the process.

At international level, McGovern represented her country from Under-16 to Under-23 level before receiving her first call up to the senior squad in May 2025.

She made a starting debut against Austria on the 30th May that year before scoring an equalising goal against The Netherlands a few days later.

After scoring on both her fourth and fifth caps, the striker netted a brace against Luxembourg in March 2026 before scoring a vital 96th minute equaliser against Belgium at Easter Road the following month.
