Glasgow City forward Abi Harrison was on hand this evening to pull the all-important numbers in the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup Round Two draw.

Eleven sides progressed from Round One of the competition at the weekend, with one fixture to be rescheduled due to postponement.

The winning sides from Round One will face off against the twelve SWF Championship sides in Round Two, before SWPL 1 and 2 teams enter the competition in the third round.

The second-round ties will be played on Sunday, 2 November.

27-year-old Harrison conducted the draw at Hampden Park with host, Eilidh Barbour and reflected on her Scottish Cup winning memories with Hibernian: “We were a team that always wanted to win and we had a few really good cup runs. The excitement and the beauty of the Scottish Cup is unlike anything else and my time at Hibs when we won this competition are some of my favourite memories in football.

“We really came alive in the Scottish Cup and when I look back, it has come such a long way. Now with the games played at Hampden as well it just adds that bit of something special.”

After coming through the youth system at Celtic and a trophy laden few seasons with Hibernian, the Scotland international was Bristol City bound in 2019 where she went on to become the Robins’ all-time record goal-scorer with 40 goals in 128 appearances.

Harrison departed Bristol City in January before returning to Celtic on a short-term loan and subsequently signing a one-year deal with Glasgow City in the summer. The forward says it’s nice to be back in Glasgow where it all began: “I’m loving life at Glasgow City and obviously the league has gone from strength to strength since I left.

“Back then we were still doing the summer season, but the professionalism of the league now is great and that’s a huge credit to everyone involved. It’s also great to be back around my friends and family again so I’m loving it, long may it continue.”

Glasgow City are off to an unbeaten start in the league this season and the forward admits it’s an exciting time to be at the club: “The momentum that we’re carrying just now is huge and getting off to a strong start can be really important. It doesn’t come by luck though, we work really hard off and on the pitch.

“We’re a tight knit group and you can see that in the results and performances that we’ve put in since the start of the season. We know the quality we have in the dressing room and the exciting thing is I still think we have another level that we can take it to.”
