Ian began his playing career at Motherwell in 1992 before going on to play in 228 senior games for the likes of St Mirren, Partick Thistle, Alloa and Stranraer.  After his career was cut short by injury, he has gone on to forge a successful coaching career after gaining his BA in Sport and Physical Activity.

Ian has worked with the Scottish FA since 2008, when he was appointed Player and Coach Development Officer following stints in the youth academies at Livingston and Falkirk.
