It's all set to be a mammoth weekend of First Round action, with 30 ties taking place across Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Take a closer look at all the ties with our facts and stats.

Banks O’Dee v Turriff United

  • This is the first ever Scottish Cup meeting of Banks O’Dee and Turriff United.
  • Banks O’Dee were eliminated by Highland League opposition in last season’s Scottish Cup – they lost 2-1 to Fraserburgh in the Second Round.
  • Turriff United are aiming to win a Scottish Cup tie for the first time since 2014-15, when they best Lossiemouth in The First Round.
  • Banks O’Dee have made it to at least the Second Round of the Scottish Cup in four of the last five seasons – the only exception was 2018-19 where they lost to Auchinleck Talbot in the Preliminary Round.


Berwick Rangers v Gretna 2008

  • The only previous Scottish Cup meeting of Berwick Rangers and Gretna 2008 came back in 2018-19, when Berwick ran out 3-1 winners at Shielfield.
  • Berwick Rangers and Gretna 2008 met at Shielfield in the Lowland League back in July, with the match finishing in a 1-1 draw.
  • Since reaching the quarter-final in 2014-15, Berwick Rangers have only won three of their nine matches in the Scottish Cup.
  • Gretna 2008 have been knocked out of the Scottish Cup away to fellow Lowland League opposition in each of the last three seasons they have taken part.


Blackburn United v Rothes

  • Blackburn United are playing in the Scottish Cup the First Round for the first ever time – they were eliminated in the Preliminary Rounds in each of their two previous entries.
  • This is the first ever competitive meeting of Blackburn United and Rothes.
  • After failing to win a match in their first 18 participations in the Scottish Cup, Rothes have won at least one tie in each of the last three seasons.
  • This will be Blackburn United’s first meeting with Highland League opposition and Rothes’ first meeting with East of Scotland League opposition.


Brechin City v Vale of Leithen

  • This is the third meeting of Brechin City and Vale of Leithen in the Scottish Cup – Brechin have won both previous matches, the most recent of which was in 1987.
  • Brechin City have won just one Scottish Cup tie in the last six seasons – that was a 3-2 win over Buckie Thistle in 2017-18.
  • Vale of Leithen have lost their last nine Scottish Cup matches – their last victory came against Selkirk in The Second Round in 2012-13.
  • Vale of Leithen have never won away from home against Highland League opposition in the Scottish Cup – they have five defeats in five matches.


Broomhill v Glasgow University

  • The only previous competitive meeting of Broomhill and Glasgow University was in the South Region Challenge Cup in 2017-18 where BSC won 6-0.
  • Broomhill were eliminated from the Scottish Cup by Tier 7 opposition last season, losing 3-2 at home to Haddington Athletic.
  • Glasgow University have not won a Scottish Cup tie since 2010-11, when they defeated Burntisland Shipyard 1-0 in the First Round.
  • Glasgow University are facing Lowland League opposition in the Scottish Cup for the first time since 2013-14, when they lost 3-1 to Gala Fairydean Rovers.


Caledonian Braves v University of Stirling

  • This is the first ever Scottish Cup meeting of Caledonian Braves and University of Stirling. Braves won the Lowland League meeting between the clubs 4-1 back in July.
  • Caledonian Braves are facing Lowland League opposition in the Scottish Cup for the first time.
  • University of Stirling have won at least one Scottish Cup tie in five of the last six seasons – the only exception was last year, when they lost to Jeanfield Swifts.
  • University of Stirling have only faced Lowland League opposition once before in the Scottish Cup – they won 3-1 away to Threave Rovers in 2015-16.

Clachnacuddin v Dunipace

  • This will be the first ever competitive meeting of Clachnacuddin and Dunipace.
  • Clachnacuddin’s last Scottish Cup meeting with East of Scotland League opposition was a 1-0 defeat to Edinburgh City in 2010-11.
  • Dunipace are competing in the First Round of the Scottish Cup for the first time in their history.
  • Dunipace are the first team to represent Denny in the Scottish Cup First Round since Denny FC participated in 1890-91.


Clydebank v Dalkeith Thistle

  • The only previous competitive meeting of Clydebank and Dalkeith Thistle came in the Scottish Junior Cup in 2005-06, with the Bankies winning 3-0.
  • This weekend's First Round will see the town of Clydebank represented in the Scottish Cup for the first time since 2001-02.
  • Dalkeith Thistle are participating in the Scottish Cup for the first time in their history – they are the first club from the town ever to take part in the tournament.
  • There were two 2021-22 Preliminary Round ties between sides from the West of Scotland and East of Scotland League systems, with one victory apiece.


Coldstream v East Kilbride

  • The only previous meeting of Coldstream and East Kilbride came in the 2018-19 South Challenge Cup quarter-final – Kilby ran out 7-0 winners.
  • Coldstream are aiming to make it to The Second Round of the Scottish Cup for just the second time in 15 seasons – the only time they did so in the previous 14 attempts came in 2018-19.
  • Coldstream have lost all three of their previous Scottish Cup ties against Lowland League opponents.
  • East Kilbride have made it to at least The Second Round in six of the seven seasons where they have participated in the Scottish Cup – the only exception was last year when they lost to Spartans in the Preliminary Round.

Cumbernauld Colts v Buckie Thistle

  • Cumbernauld Colts and Buckie Thistle have never previously met in a competitive fixture.
  • Cumbernauld Colts have lost both their previous Scottish Cup matches against Highland League opposition – v Forres Mechanics in 2016-17 and Huntly last season.
  • Buckie Thistle have made it to at least the 2nd Round of the Scottish Cup in five of the last six seasons – the only exception was 2018-19.
  • Buckie Thistle have lost their last two away matches against Lowland League opposition – against Caledonian Braves in 2018-19 and Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic in 2019-20.


Deveronvale v Haddington Athletic

  • This will be the first competitive meeting of Deveronvale and Haddington Athletic.
  • Deveronvale have won just two Scottish Cup matches in the last seven seasons – both came against East of Scotland League opponents (Hawick Royal Albert in 2017-18 and Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic in 2018-19).
  • Haddington Athletic competed in the Scottish Cup for the first time last season, and were knocked out by Highland League opposition in the shape of Formartine United.
  • Haddington Athletic won their only previous away match in the Scottish Cup – a 3-2 win over BSC Glasgow in last season’s 2nd Preliminary Round.


Dunbar United v Camelon Juniors

  • Camelon Juniors are unbeaten in their last five matches against Dunbar United, including a 1-0 win ain the East of Scotland League Premier Division back in July.
  • Dunbar United are competing in the Scottish Cup for the first time in their history.
  • This is the first time a match in the Scottish Cup competition proper has been played in the town of Dunbar.
  • Camelon Juniors have won their first tie in each of the two previous seasons where they competed in the Scottish Cup.


East Stirlingshire v Fort William

  • This will be the first ever competitive meeting of East Stirlingshire and Fort William.
  • East Stirlingshire have beaten Highland League opposition at this stage of the competition in two of the last three seasons.
  • Fort William have only ever recorded one away win in the Scottish Cup, in eleven attempts – that came against Preston Athletic in 2015-16.
  • Fort William’s last two victories in the Scottish Cup have come against Lowland League opposition – Preston Athletic in 2015-16 and Vale of Leithen in 2019-20.


Formartine United v Cumnock Juniors

  • Formartine United and Cumnock Juniors have never previously met in a competitive fixture.
  • Formartine United have made it to The Second Round of the Scottish Cup in each of the last seven seasons.
  • This will be Cumnock Juniors’ first ever Scottish Cup tie.
  • The town of Cumnock will be represented in the Scottish Cup competition proper for the first time since 1885-86, when Cumnock FC lost 5-1 to Hurlford.


Forres Mechanics v Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic

  • This is the first ever competitive meeting of Forres Mechanics and Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic.
  • Forres Mechanics have lost in the first round in each of their previous three Scottish Cup campaigns.
  • Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic have won four of their last five Scottish Cup ties against Highland League opposition – the only loss came against Deveronvale in 2018-19.
  • Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic have won their first tie in each of their last five Scottish Cup campaigns.


Fraserburgh v Sauchie Juniors

  • This is the first time that Fraserburgh and Sauchie Juniors have met in a competitive fixture.
  • Fraserburgh have lost four of their last five home matches in the Scottish Cup – their only win came against Banks O’Dee last season.
  • Fraserburgh are facing East of Scotland League opposition for the first time since they beat Civil Service Strollers 4-0 in the First Round in 2013-14.
  • Sauchie Juniors are participating in the Scottish Cup for the first time in their history.

Golspie Sutherland v Civil Service Strollers

  • This is the first ever competitive meeting of Golspie Sutherland and Civil Service Strollers.
  • Golspie Sutherland are aiming to reach the 2nd Round of the Scottish Cup for the first time since 2012-13.
  • Golspie Sutherland have only ever won one home Scottish Cup match – that came against Preston Athletic in 2007-08.
  • Civil Service Strollers have only won one of their 18 away matches in the Scottish Cup competition proper – that came against Edinburgh University in 2008-09.

Huntly v Hill of Beath Hawthorn

  • This is the first ever competitive meeting of Huntly and Hill of Beath Hawthorn.
  • Huntly have lost their last two Scottish Cup ties against East of Scotland League opponents – they lost to Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale in 2015-16 and Linlithgow Rose in 2019-20.
  • Hill of Beath Hawthorn are competing in the Scottish Cup for the third time – they won their opening tie in each of the two previous campaigns.
  • Hill of Beath Hawthorn’s only previous meeting with Highland League opposition came in last season’s Scottish Cup when they lost 4-2 to Keith after extra time.


Inverurie Loco Works v Jeanfield Swifts

  • This is the first ever competitive meeting of Inverurie Loco Works and Jeanfield Swifts.
  • Inverurie Loco Works have lost their opening tie in four of the last five Scottish Cup seasons – the only exception was 2019-20 when they reached Round 3.
  • Inverurie Loco Works have lost their last two Scottish Cup ties against East of Scotland League opponents – v Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale in 2017-18 and Broxburn Athletic in 2019-20.
  • This will be Jeanfield Swifts’ first ever Scottish Cup match against Highland League opposition.

Irvine Meadow XI v Auchinleck Talbot

  • Irvine Meadow XI are participating in the Scottish Cup for the first time since 2012-13, when they lost to Queen’s Park in the Second Round.
  • Irvine Meadow XI have made it to at least the Second Round in all three previous occasions where they have participated in the Scottish Cup.
  • Auchinleck Talbot are unbeaten in their last six competitive matches against Irvine Meadow XI (five wins, one draw). Meadow’s last win was back in January 2015 in the West Junior Super League.
  • Auchinleck Talbot are playing a fellow Ayrshire side in the Scottish Cup for the first time since they defeated Ayr United in Round 4 in 2018-19.

Keith v Darvel

  • This is the first ever competitive meeting of Keith and Darvel.
  • Keith have won just three Scottish Cup ties in the last nine years, but two of those came in last season’s competition.
  • Keith have won just two of their last 17 home matches in the Scottish Cup – both of those came last season.
  • Darvel are competing in the Scottish Cup for the first time in their history.


Lossiemouth v Preston Athletic

  • This is the first ever competitive meeting of Lossiemouth and Preston Athletic.
  • Lossiemouth have not won a Scottish Cup match since 2009-10 – they have been eliminated at the first time of asking in each of the last 11 seasons.
  • Preston Athletic have won all three of their previous away matches against Highland League opposition.
  • Preston Athletic are aiming to win two Scottish Cup ties in the same season for the first time in their history.


Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale v Edinburgh University

  • This will be the first ever Scottish Cup meeting of Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale and Edinburgh University – they haven’t met competitively since the 2013-14 East of Scotland League season.
  • Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale have lost just two of their last 11 home matches in the Scottish Cup – however they did lose last year’s 1st Round tie with Banks O’Dee.
  • Edinburgh University have won just two Scottish Cup matches in the last 13 seasons – these came against Strathspey Thistle in 2015-16 and Lossiemouth in 2017-18.
  • Edinburgh University were knocked out of last season’s Scottish Cup by East of Scotland League opponents – that was a 2-1 loss to Tranent Juniors.

Nairn County v Strathspey Thistle

  • This will be the first time Nairn County and Strathspey Thistle have faced each other in the Scottish Cup.
  • Nairn County have lost each of their last three Scottish Cup ties against fellow Highland League sides – most recently to Clachnacuddin in 2019-20.
  • Nairn County have lost just twice in 29 competitive meetings with Strathspey Thistle – however both of those defeats did come at home.
  • Strathspey Thistle have only won one Scottish Cup tie in their history – that was against Lossiemouth in 2019-20.


Newtongrange Star v Dalbeattie Star

  • This will be the first ever competitive meeting of Newtongrange Star and Dalbeattie Star.
  • There has never previously been a Scottish Cup tie between two teams with the suffix “Star”.
  • This is the first time that Newtongrange Star have competed in the Scottish Cup competition proper – they were eliminated in the preliminary rounds last season.
  • Dalbeattie Star have not won a Scottish Cup tie since 2014-15, when they beat Golspie Sutherland in the First Round.

Penicuik Athletic v Tranent Juniors

  • This will be the first time Penicuik Athletic and Tranent Juniors have faced each other in the Scottish Cup.
  • The most recent competitive meeting of Penicuik Athletic and Tranent Juniors was a 2-2 draw in the East of Scotland Premier in November 2020.
  • Penicuik Athletic were knocked out of last season’s Scottish Cup by a fellow East of Scotland League side – that was a 3-2 loss to Musselburgh Athletic.
  • Tranent Juniors are competing in the Scottish Cup for just the second time – they made it to The Second Round of last season’s competition.


Spartans v Gala Fairydean Rovers

  • Spartans and Gala Fairydean Rovers have never previously met in the Scottish Cup, however Spartans running out 4-0 winners at Netherdale in their most recent Lowland League meeting back in July.
  • Spartans have never lost at home to Gala Fairydean Rovers – they have picked up eight wins and a draw in nine meetings in Edinburgh.
  • Spartans have won their first Scottish Cup tie in seven of the last eight seasons – the only exception was 2018-19 when they were knocked out by East Kilbride.
  • Gala Fairydean Rovers have won their first Scottish Cup tie in four of the last five seasons – the only exception was 2017-18 when they lost to Keith.


Tynecastle v Brora Rangers

  • This will be the first ever competitive meeting of Tynecastle and Brora Rangers.
  • Tynecastle are competing in the Scottish Cup competition proper for the first time – they were knocked out in the preliminary rounds in each of the last three seasons.
  • Brora Rangers have made it to at least The Second Round of the Scottish Cup in each of the last eight seasons – the last time they failed to do so was 2012-13 when they were knocked out by Formartine United.
  • Brora Rangers have won each of their last 11 Scottish Cup ties against non-SPFL opposition – their last defeat came against Formartine United in 2012-13.


Wick Academy v Bo’ness United

  • This will be the first time that Wick Academy and Bo’ness United have faced each other in a competitive fixture.
  • Wick Academy are unbeaten in their three previous home Scottish Cup matches against Lowland League opposition – they have picked up a win and two draws.
  • Bo’ness United have won their first Scottish Cup tie in each of the four previous seasons that they have competed in the tournament.
  • Bo’ness United have faced Highland League opposition on two previous occasions - they lost to Buckie Thistle in 2010-11 but beat Fort William in 2011-12.


Wigtown & Bladnoch v St Cuthbert Wanderers

  • This will be the first Scottish Cup meeting between Wigtown & Bladnoch and St Cuthbert Wanderers.
  • St Cuthbert Wanderers are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Wigtown & Bladnoch, including an 8-1 win in the South of Scotland League just a fortnight ago.
  • Wigtown & Bladnoch have won just one Scottish Cup tie in the last eight seasons – that was a 1-0 win over Vale of Leithen in 2015-16.
  • St Cuthbert Wanderers have lost their last six Scottish Cup matches – their most recent win came against Burntisland Shipyard in 2015-16.
