Twelve teams have secured their spot in the first round of the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup following the final round of preliminary fixtures at the weekend.
69 goals were scored across the ten fixtures that took place in Preliminary Round Two with Bishopton scoring 11 against Alloa Athletic without reply, whilst Blairgowrie lost heavily with a 10-nil defeat against St Anthony’s Ladies.
It was a much closer affair for Aberdeen who narrowly lost 3-2 to Edinburgh University and Central Ladies emerged victorious following an eight-goal thriller against Danderhall Miners.
Thornton Hibs and Buckie were among the history-makers at the weekend with their victories. Buckie secured their first win in the Scottish Cup and Thornton Hibs progressed to the first round for the first time.
Huntly have progressed with a bye after Annan Athletic withdrew from the competition. Similarly, Arbroath will feature in the next round after Ross County forfeited their match.
The draw for the first round will take place at Hampden Park on Tuesday, 9 September with Celtic and Scotland International, Emma Lawton and Gordon Duncan on draw duties.
