Biography
George Horsburgh Allan was born in Linlithgow Bridge (West Lothian) on 23 April 1875. He died on 9 October 1899.
George Allan was not the quickest of centre forwards but he had a powerful physique and held on to the ball superbly well. His playing career began locally with Broxburn Shamrock and Bo'ness before he joined Leith Athletic in 1894. In October 1895 he moved south to Liverpool and was an immediate success scoring 42 goals in 49 league games, helping the club to the Division 2 championship.
