David Gardner

David Richmond Gardner was born in Glasgow on 31 March 1873. Died on 5 November 1931. A pacy left half who liked to take control and was appointed captain at all his clubs. He began at Third Lanark turning professional in 1896 and moved to Newcastle United in 1899 on to Grimsby Town in 1902 and finally to West Ham United from 1904-07. He was trainer of Leicester City from 1919 until his death which occurred suddenly while playing golf.
