Team News

Andy Robertson’s place in the starting 11 won him his 49th cap as Scotland captain, making him the most-capped Scotland Men’s National Team captain of all-time, overtaking George Young.

Grant Hanley also reached a milestone with his place in the starting line-up as he reached 50 caps for his country and joined the Scotland International Roll of Honour.

Tommy Conway came off the bench in the second half to make his senior Scotland debut, having been called-up to the squad after scoring for the Scotland Men's Under-21s side earlier in the week.

20 years on from his debut, Craig Gordon came on in the second half to make his 75th appearance for his country, with the crowd giving him a warm reception as he also broke David Weir's record of being the oldest player to play for the Scotland Men's National Team.

As It Happened

Hampden Park was the location for Scotland Men’s National Team send-off party prior to their departure to Germany for EURO 2024.

Despite a number of Scotland chances in the first half, the opening 45 minutes ended goalless.

Scotland started the second half strong and piled the pressure on Finland. Substitute goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo was forced to make a save 2 minutes after entering the pitch when Billy Gilmour fired an effort towards him from 20 yards out however the Finnish shot stopper saved it low in the 6 yard box.

Scotland opened the scoring in the 54th minute when an low cross from Andy Robertson made its way into the danger area and was deflected in off Arttu Hoskonen.

Scotland got their second in quick succession when an Anthony Ralston cross into the box was cleared but only into the path of Andy Robertson. The Scotland skipper picked up the loose ball and played a brilliant ball into the box which met the head of Lawrence Shankland at the back post area, making its way into the back of the net.

Finland got a goal back in the 71st minute when Benjamin Källman headed into the bottom corner from the centre of the box.

Finland equalised 5 minutes before the 90 was up when they were awarded a penalty for a foul from Craig Gordon in the box. Oliver Antman stepped up to take the penalty and converted it.

Tommy Conway nearly got his first Scotland goal for the Men’s National Team deep into stoppage time, however his header was denied by a fantastic save from Viljami Sinisalo.
