SWNT Head Coach Melissa Andreatta visited Dunfermline last week ahead of the international friendly against Switzerland at KDM Group East End Park later this month.

Andreatta spent time in the PE department of Dunfermline High School, treading the pitches that produced Scotland's first Ballon d'Or Feminin nominee, Caroline Weir.

The boss also made a surprise visit to oversee a training session for the P6/7 girls' team at Masterton Primary School before rounding off the day at Pitreavie playing fields with the Pars Foundation for their creative player group session.

Speaking after the visit, Andreatta said it was great to experience the passion that the city of Dunfermline has for the women's game: "I was blown away by the excitement from all of the young people, coaches and staff that we met during our day in Dunfermline.

"Bringing our game to this community is going to create a really special atmosphere and we're really looking forward to it.

"Spending time walking through the city, I got a sense of the buzz that exists around Scotland fans and we want that buzz in the stands on the 28th."

It's the first that the Scotland Women's National Team has played at the home of Dunfermline Athletic, Pars Foundation General Manager, Kelly Armstrong, said it's a privilege to host the senior women's national side: "We are delighted to be bringing this game to Dunfermline. It means so much the girls' game in Dunfermline, and throughout Fife.

"Having Melissa come down to Pitreavie to spend time with our young players is a dream come true for many of them and strengthens an already strong connection that we have to the national team.

"The number of girls' and women that we have engaged in the game across the East of Scotland is growing all the time and we want to show out in our numbers to get behind the Scotland Women's National Team and show our young players that if you work hard and keep believing, you can achieve your ambitions to get to the top."
