Fir Park, Motherwell

Scotland Men's Under-21 Head Coach Scot Gemmill has today named a squad of 24 as his side prepare to begin their latest UEFA Under-21 European Championship qualifying campaign next month.

Scotland travel to Uherske Hradiste to face Czech Republic on Friday, 5 September before returning to face Portugal four days later at Fir Park. Tickets for the Motherwell match can be purchased here, while Scotland Supporters Club (SSC) members go free.

Of the squad, several players featured in the last qualifying campaign, including Matthew Anderson, Jeremiah Mullen, Dire Mebude, David Watson and Daniel Kelly who all played prominent roles.

This group will be hoping follow in the footsteps of Ben Doak, Tommy Conway, Kieron Bowie, Connor Barron, Lennon Miller, Cieran Slicker, Max Johnston and Josh Doig, who all featured in the previous campaign for the Under-21s before going on to feature for the senior side.

James Wilson, who made his debut for the senior Scotland team in March, is back in Gemmill's squad, having also featured against Slovakia in May.

Another who has spent time with the Scotland Men's A squad is goalkeeper Callan McKenna and he could feature for the first time for the Under-21s.

Grimsby Town forward Cameron Gardner has yet to feature for Scotland at any level, while Partick Thistle's Ts’oanelo Lets’osa last featured for Scotland at Under-16 level.

Blackburn Rovers' Kristi Montgomery and Rangers' Findlay Curtis were both involved with the Under-20s in May but aiming to win their first caps at Under-21 level. Robbie Ure - who was last involved in 2023 - is hoping is make his Under-21 bow after impressing since joining IK Sirius in Sweden earlier this year.

There is also a welcome return for Ben McPherson, who has won five Under-21 caps but last featured in October 2023 due to injury setbacks, though the likes of Josh Dede, Bailey Rice, Findlay Pollock and Rudi Molotnikov are unavailable for this one.
