Scotland Women’s Under-23 squad are preparing to participate in a European friendly tournament for the first time. The games will take place over four matchdays within three windows ahead of finals next April.
Scotland are placed in Group B along with Italy, Netherlands, Sweden and Belgium. Portugal, France, Germany, England and Norway will all compete in Group A.
The young team will kick off their fixtures at home to Sweden on Thursday, 23 October before travelling to face Italy on Monday, 27 October.
Scotland will also travel to Belgium in November before hosting the Netherlands in February.
Head of Elite Women’s Football, Michael McArdle, said joining this tournament is a crucial step forward in the evolution of our elite player pathway: “Taking part in these friendly fixtures on an annual basis is a fantastic addition to our national youth team match schedule.
“We’ll be competing against the top European teams and we will undoubtedly reap the benefits of this as players continue to be given every opportunity to reach their potential.
“Having a confirmed programme for Scotland Women’s Under-23s is a significant investment not just in our youth team players, but in the future of the Scotland Women’s National Team.”
