Biography
James Clews Cowan was born in Paisley on 16 June, 1926. He died on 20 June, 1968. The outstanding goalkeeper of his generation, Jimmy Cowan won few honours with his clubs but excelled with Scotland - never more so than the international at Wembley in 1949 when he kept out everything the all star England forward line could throw at him. His senior career began at St Mirren, then he joined Morton in the summer of 1944 for the start of nine years at Cappielow.
