Biography
John Carmichael Kelly was born in Paisley on 21 February 1921. Died 2 January 2001. He joined Celtic from junior club Arthurlie in 1938 but before his career got going it was interrupted by the war. He moved to Morton in 1941 and did well enough to earn a wartime cap (v England in 1945). He finally established himself at Barnsley joining them in December 1945 and in seven seasons there he made himself invaluable as a tricky outside left.
