Biography
David Calderhead was born in Hurlford (Ayrshire) on 19 June 1864. He died on 9 January 1938. The only player to be capped from the Dumfries team Queen of the South Wanderers, he was a powerful centre half. His international appearance attracted the attention of Notts County and he spent ten years with them from 1889, making 278 league appearances and also winning the FA Cup in 1894. He followed with a successful managerial career initially with Lincoln City from 1900 to 1907, but then with Chelsea from 1907 to 1933.
