Biography
George Gilbert Miller Aitken was born in Lochgelly, Fife, on 28 May 1925. He died on 22 January, 2003.
He joined East Fife in 1943 and - even though working fulltime as a miner - became a member of the successful cup team from Methil which lifted the Scottish League Cup in 1947 (while in the Second Division) and 1949 and also reached the Scottish Cup Final in 1950. He moved to Third Lanark in February 1951 but was bought by Sunderland in November that year for £19,500.
