John May

John May was born in Dykehead (Lanarkshire) on 15 April 1878. A clever wing half he played for Paisley FC Wishaw Thistle and Abercorn before moving south to Derby County in May 1898. He played in their losing FA Cup Finals of 1899 and 1903 then returned to Scotland to join Rangers in May 1904. Although the club had limited playing success in his six years at Ibrox he was a regular in the half back line. He joined Morton in 1910 and played there for five years before retiring.
