Biography
Alexander Barbour was born in Dumbarton on 7 June 1862. He died on 29 December 1930.
A powerful centre forward, his career reached its peak in 1885 when he won his single Scotland cap (and scored) as well as winning the Scottish Cup with Renton. He also appeared in the Cup final team the following year. He was signed up by Bolton Wanderers in May 1888 and scored regularly for them in the first three years of the Football League, notching 17 goals in 34 matches.
