Biography
Robert Denholm Baxter was born in Gilmerton Midlothian on 23 January 1911. He died in April, 1991.
A dominating centre half, Bobby Baxter was a mainstay for Middlesbrough, whom he joined in 1931 from junior team Musselburgh Bruntonians. He remained at Ayresome Park until 1946, although guesting for both Hearts and Hibs during the War, and spent the 1946/47 season with Hearts before becoming player coach of Leith Athletic in 1947. He also doubled as manager of the Edinburgh Monarchs speedway team.
