Andrew McIntyre was born in Bonhill, Dunbartonshire, on 9 August, 1855. He died on 30 March, 1941.
Strongly built, McIntyre was an ideal man to have in defence, but he was much more than a muscle-bound enforcer. He had a reputation for skillful passing, often over long distance, and could tackle adeptly. He played for Vale of Leven at their peak, making his first team debut in 1874 aged 19.
