Dave Gibson

David Weddernburn Gibson was born in Kirkliston, West Lothian, on 23 September, 1938. A creative inside forward, he joined Hibernian in 1956 from local junior side Livingston United, and did well enough to be signed by Leicester City in January 1962 for a reported £40,000 fee. He starred in Leicester’s midfield as they reached several finals, although the only winner’s medal was for the Football League Cup in 1964. The club reached the final again the following year, and also lost two FA Cup finals.
