Biography
William Alexander Dickson was born in Crail (Fife) on 27 August 1866. He died on 1 June 1910. A centre forward with Dundee Strathmore, he won his single cap as a late replacement for Sandy Higgins and did little wrong with four goals in the first half of a 10-2 win. However, the selectors were not impressed and he was never chosen again. It was enough to earn him a transfer to England, and he played briefly for Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland before signing for Aston Villa in 1889,.
