Biography
David George Black was born in Irvine (Ayrshire) on 29 March, 1868.
A direct and versatile forward who could play on the left or right, Black started with Hurlford but soon went south and spent the rest of his playing career in England with a variety of clubs. He joined Grimsby Town in 1889, then moved to Middlesbrough in 1891, Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1893 (reaching the FA Cup Final in 1896), on to Burnley for a season in 1896 and finally at Tottenham Hotspur from 1897-98.
