Biography
Robert Brown was born in Dunipace, Stirlingshire, on 19 March, 1923.
After coming to prominence with Queen's Park (who he joined in 1939) during the war, between service in the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm, he was an excellent goalkeeper. He made guest appearances for Portsmouth, Chester and Chelsea during the war, but signed for Rangers in May 1946. In his ten years at Ibrox he was a solid back line for a team that was more used to going forward, and earned numerous medals including the Scottish Cup.
