Biography
Hugh Wilson was born in Mauchline (Ayrshire) on 18 March, 1869. He died on 7 April, 1940.
A tall muscular inside forward, he came to prominence in the unlikely surroundings of Newmilns, the Ayrshire club where he won his first cap. He moved to Sunderland later that year, in 1890, and played a key role in the club’s three Football League championships of 1892, 1893 and 1895.
