Biography
James Anton Blyth was born in Perth on 2 February, 1955. A tall goalkeeper who started out in junior football with Perth Roselea, he signed for Preston North End as an apprentice, turning professional in October 1972. The same month he was transferred to Coventry City for £22,000, a considerable fee for a player with just one league appearance to his name. He took some time to establish himself in the Coventry team, going out on loan to Hereford United for six months in 1975.
