Biography
James Allan Holton was born in Lesmahagow (Lanarkshire) on 11 April, 1951.
A powerful and dominant centre half, Holton was the darling of the Scotland supporters not only for his uncompromising style but also for scoring one of the goals against Czechoslovakia that took the country to the 1974 World Cup. Despite being on the Celtic staff as a boy, he played all his professional career in England, heading to West Bromwich Albion in 1968. He spent three uneventful years there and moved to Shrew
