Biography
Mark McGhee started his career at Greenock Morton in 1975 and went on to play for clubs including Newcastle United, Aberdeen, Hamburg, Celtic, IK Brage and Reading.
He was named Scottish PFA Players' Player of the Year in 1982, and his greatest career moment came the following year when Aberdeen famously defeated Real Madrid 2–1 to lift the 1983 European Cup Winners' Cup in Gothenburg.
Mark also scored the second goal as Aberdeen defeated Hamburg 2-0 to win the UEFA Super Cup in the same year.
He won four caps for his country, and points to the goal he scored in a 1-1 British International Championship match against England in 1984 as his Scotland highlight.
He was named Scotland assistant national coach by Gordon Strachan in January 2013.
