Biography
One of the most technically gifted players in the squad, Weir made her senior Scotland debut in a 3-2 friendly victory over Iceland in Reykjavik.
Weir and fellow Scotland international Emma Mitchell were the first signings made by Shelley Kerr when she took charge at Arsenal in 2014.
Following spells at Bristol City and Liverpool, the midfielder joined Manchester City in 2018. She was named as player of the match in City’s Continental Cup final victory over Arsenal in February 2019, whilst also helping her side to victory in the 2019 FA Women’s Cup at Wembley.
Her goal against Spain at UEFA EURO 2017 gave Scotland their first-ever victory at a major tournament, with Weir also being named as player of the match. She scored a memorable free kick in a 3-2 win over Jamaica, with the game played in front of an SWNT record crowd of 18,555 at Hampden Park and was a key member of the 2019 World Cup squad. She won the FA Cup in 2019 and is mentored by tennis legend Andy Murray.
