Gary Mackay-Steven
Biography
Gary started his career at Ross County before joining Liverpool in 2007. He left the English Premier League side after a two-year spell plagued with injury and signed for Airdrie United in January 2011.
After an impressive few months at the SFL First Division side, the pacy winger was snapped up by Dundee United in July 2011 on a two-year deal. He made his debut in a UEFA Europa League qualifier against Slask Wroclaw later that month and scored his first senior goal in a 3-3 draw with St Johnstone in August 2012.
Gary’s excellent form at club level earned him a call-up to the Scotland Under-21 squad for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifier against the Netherlands. He made his debut in a goalless draw against the Dutch on 29th February 2012 at St Mirren Park.
Gordon Strachan handed Gary his first senior call-up, when he was included in the squad for the FIFA World Cup 2014 double-header against Wales and Serbia in March 2013.
