Biography
Thomas Cairns was born in Merryton (Lanarkshire) on 30 October, 1890. He died in December 1967. Cairns had a lengthy playing career which took him into his forties was spent mostly at Rangers in their dominant league team of the 1920s. A late starter, he won a Scottish Junior Cup medal with Burnbank Athletic in 1911, and joined his first senior club, Bristol City, that year. However, he failed to establish himself and returned to relative obscurity with Peebles Rovers.
