Biography
George Herd was born in Lanark on 6 May 1936.
His first club was Inverness Thistle as a youngster but he joined Queen’s Park in 1956 and turned professional with Clyde in May 1957. He made an immediate impact on the right wing, earning his international debut and a Scottish Cup winner’s medal within one week during his first season. He took his cap tally to five before moving to Sunderland in April 1961 and moved into coaching at the same club in 1969. He made a return to playing w
